Jamini Roy’s studio from the 40’s or so basically consisted only of his son Amiya (nicknamed to ‘potol’ in the classic bengali tradition of coming up with the most useless nicknames that one can find) and another (of last name chatterjee) whose job was to mix and create the tempera  – AND NO ONE ELSE !!!

Which Are Some Good Works By Francis Newton Souza ?

In a serious effort to “shoot myself in the foot” and stir up unnecessary controversy, have decided to also create a list of some of Francis Newton Souza’s “good” works.

School of Raja Ravi Varma Sells For $412000

Raja Ravi Varma was a commercially successful portrait painter in 19th century India. He had even established a printing press to make prints of his canvases and these prints/oleographs became very popular. The spread and the popularity of his art spawned many painters who were inspired by him and took to replicate his works.
